At 'Camnusch' we take our responsibilities of finding suitable adoptive homes for our puppies very seriously; after all, we are choosing the home and lifestyle of that puppy for the rest of it's life. Good or Bad!
To enable us to place a pup that will suit the lifestyle of our prospective purchasers, we first establish whether the puppy will be within the purchasers ability to control it. Therefore some questions need to be asked before a choice can be made
Is the German Shepherd Dog breed suitable for the purpose of the
purchaser, and should the purchaser own a potentially unsuitable breed/dog
that they may have trouble handling?
How much time has the purchaser to devote to a puppy and
then to an adult dog?
Will regular times be allocated for walking, grooming, general inspection and bathing?
Within the family, who will be responsible for feeding,
toilet training and obedience training the puppy?
Does the purchaser understand the ongoing costs of
Council Registration, VCA & various other Memberships, Vaccinations, regular worming and
veterinary care?
Are there Adequate fences for a German Shepherd Dog?
Does the family understand that a dog is not a
disposable toy but a living creature with needs of its own?
Will the family
undertake
education on civic duties and responsibilities of dog
ownership?
The puppy at eight weeks of age that was cute and cuddly, could become a large, hairy and demanding dog within a surprisingly short time.
Responsible breeders take care in the selection of the right home for the right puppy!
It is the obligation of the breeder to offer ongoing education and assistance; therefore, understanding the different temperaments within the litter enables the breeder to guide appropriate selection of a puppy.
The bully of the litter is likely to be a dominant adult and will need a different home to the sweet, willing puppy that will settle anywhere. Care in the selection of the right puppy for the right home helps ensure that the partnership is for life, and not just for Christmas!
